    Wang Tuo wins Sigg Prize 2023.

    Chinese language artist Wang Tuo, who works throughout movie, portray and set up, gained the 2023 Sigg Prize.The artist was nominated for his video collection Northeastern Quartet (2018-2021), a compelling fusion of historical past and fictional narrative, and featured in M+’s 2023 Sigg Prize exhibition.

    Wang Tuo, born in Changchun, China in 1984, has acquired many honors, together with the 2020 OCAT x KADIST Rising Media Artist Residency Program and the tenth Three Shadows Images Award in 2018. 2015 to 2017.

    Wang Tuo’s work usually delves into trendy Chinese language historical past, cultural archives, and mythology to create speculative narratives that blur the boundaries between actuality and fiction, comparable to his current solo exhibition “Wang Tuo: The Second Time” at Blindspot Gallery in Hong Kong in 2023.     Launched by M+ in 2018, the Sigg Prize goals to acknowledge and promote numerous creative practices throughout China and awards HK$500,000 (US$64,000) to the winners.

    Wang’s video collection will likely be on show on the Sigg Prize 2023 exhibition at M+ till January 14, alongside works by fellow shortlisted artists Van Jess, Miao Ying, Xie Nanxing, Yang Weixiong and Yu Ji.
