Cheryl Crane-Hunter is a multifaceted artist whose work not only captivates the eye but also speaks to the soul. With a background in art education and a passion for nature, Cheryl’s creations are meditative moments of peace, infused with symbolism and a deeper connection to the world around us.

    Title: Summer Solstice Celebration

One glance at Cheryl’s artwork, and it’s evident that nature plays a central role in her inspiration. From the gentle sway of trees to the tranquil depths of the ocean, her pieces reflect the beauty and serenity found in the natural world. But Cheryl’s art is more than just a reflection of nature; it’s a testament to the healing power it holds.

As a breast cancer survivor, Cheryl knows firsthand the transformative effect of nature’s healing energy. Her artwork titled “Moon Spirit Healing” is a poignant example of this. In this piece, Cheryl captures a meditative moment of spirit, light, and nature, drawing on her own experiences of finding solace and healing in the embrace of the ocean and the moon.

But Cheryl’s talents extend beyond the canvas. Recognizing the therapeutic value of art, she founded LLC Paint With Me Cheryl Crane, through which she offers art talks and workshops in various media for senior adults and her community. Through these workshops, Cheryl not only shares her artistic gifts but also provides a space for others to explore their creativity and find moments of peace and expression.

Cheryl’s dedication to her craft has been recognized through various exhibitions, including the International Show “Hope” and being named the Surf City Community Center’s Artist of the Month in May 2024. Her work has graced the walls of institutions such as ILM, Art Works, Coastal Carolina Community College, VCU Thesis Show “Hope, Faith, and Love,” Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, and Morehead State University.

One of Cheryl’s works, “Summer Solstice Celebration,” perfectly encapsulates her spiritual approach to art. This acrylic on canvas piece, measuring 25 by 36 inches, represents the sacred art of cutting cords. Cheryl describes this process as disconnecting from the negative and reclaiming her power through open arms. The frilly brushstrokes and horizontally dripped paint reflect a sense of letting go, as the paint drips off the canvas, symbolizing release and renewal.

The warm colors in “Summer Solstice Celebration” evoke the magnetic feel of the sun’s power. Cheryl’s spirit is depicted dancing in celebration as she regains harmonious energy and inner strength. This piece is a visual manifestation of her personal journey towards healing and empowerment.

Cheryl’s artistic journey is deeply intertwined with her personal experiences and the natural world. Her pieces often serve as visual diaries, capturing her reflections on life, nature, and the human spirit. Through her art, Cheryl invites viewers to explore their own connections with nature and to find solace and inspiration in its beauty.

In addition to her paintings, Cheryl’s workshops and community outreach are integral to her practice. She believes in the therapeutic power of art and strives to create opportunities for others to experience its benefits. Her workshops for senior adults, in particular, have become a cherished part of many communities, offering a space for creativity, expression, and connection.

Cheryl’s ability to translate personal and collective experiences into visual form resonates with many, and her dedication to using art as a tool for healing and empowerment is truly inspiring.

Through her workshops, exhibitions, and personal practice, Cheryl Crane-Hunter continues to explore the depths of human experience and the natural world. Her art is a testament to the healing power of creativity and the profound connections we share with nature. Whether through the delicate brushstrokes of a tree’s leaves or the vibrant colors of a summer solstice, Cheryl’s work invites us to pause, reflect, and find peace in the beauty around us.

Cheryl’s journey as an artist and survivor is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of art. Her work not only captures the essence of nature but also serves as a beacon of hope and healing. As she continues to create and inspire, Cheryl Crane-Hunter’s art remains a powerful reminder of the beauty and strength that lies within us all.
