Bernard C. Meyers, an American abstract contemporary artist and master printer. Armed with an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Meyers delves into the realms of printmaking, where he seamlessly intertwines photographic realism with abstract expressionism. His art is not merely a visual spectacle; it’s a journey through the intricacies of urban life, reimagined through his creative lens.

In Meyers’ ongoing project, “Urban Abstracts,” he invites viewers to immerse themselves in a world where reality and imagination converge. Each piece is a testament to his keen eye for form and design, a puzzle meticulously crafted to challenge perceptions. Utilizing modern digital tools, Meyers deconstructs and reconstructs images, exploring endless possibilities along the spectrum between photography and painting.

At the heart of Meyers’ artistic philosophy lies a guiding principle borrowed from Minor White: “Photograph something not for what it is but for what it can become.” This ethos permeates his work, infusing it with depth and meaning beyond the surface.

One such piece from his “Urban Abstracts” collection is “New York 7844.” Measuring 18”x27” with an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Museum Etching Paper, this limited edition artwork captures the essence of the bustling metropolis in exquisite detail. The meticulous craftsmanship evident in each brushstroke allows viewers to immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of the city streets. The interplay of color and space in “New York 7844” creates a dynamic visual narrative, where skyscrapers stand as silent sentinels amidst the ebb and flow of human activity below. Through Meyers’ skillful manipulation of light and shadow, the artwork transcends mere representation, inviting viewers to delve deeper into the complexities of urban life. From the chaotic hustle of Times Square to the serene beauty of Central Park, “New York 7844” encapsulates the multifaceted nature of the city, leaving an indelible impression on all who behold it.

As we delve deeper into the world of Bernard C. Meyers, we are reminded that art is not just about what we see, but how it makes us feel. Through his “Urban Abstracts,” Meyers invites us to question, explore, and reimagine the world around us—one brushstroke at a time.
