Jesse A. Kantu studied and graduated from the University of Houston with a BFA in Sculpture and a Minor in Art History in 2006. His work delves into the common denominators and the brokenness of Man’s plight found in all cultures. In 2011, he started Pyramid Art Services, a social arts hub to help others find their artistic voice. By May 2015, he had graduated with his MFA in Painting from Houston Baptist University. In 2020, Kantu released his first literary publication, EMERGING-New Contemporary Narratives in the 21st Century. He lives and works in Houston, TX, where he continues to create and inspire through his unique artistic perspective.

Kantu’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in his personal experiences and the universal struggles of humanity. His work often explores themes of brokenness, resilience, and the shared human experience across different cultures. Through his art, Kantu aims to highlight the commonalities that bind us together, despite our differences.

One of his notable works, “Under the Umbrella,” is a 36 x 48-inch piece created using acrylics, chalk, and tape on canvas. This piece exemplifies Kantu’s unique approach to art, blending various materials and techniques to create a compelling narrative. The use of different mediums in “Under the Umbrella” adds layers of complexity to the work, inviting viewers to delve deeper into its meaning.

In 2011, Kantu founded Pyramid Art Services, a social arts hub designed to help others find their artistic voice. This initiative was born out of Kantu’s belief in the transformative power of art and its ability to bring people together. Pyramid Art Services offers a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work, collaborate with others, and engage with the community.

Through Pyramid Art Services, Kantu has created a supportive environment where artists can explore their creativity and develop their skills. The hub hosts workshops, exhibitions, and events, providing artists with opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with others in the art community. Kantu’s vision for Pyramid Art Services is to foster a sense of belonging and inspire individuals to express themselves through art.

Kantu’s work is characterized by its exploration of the human condition and the shared struggles of humanity. His pieces often reflect themes of brokenness, resilience, and the commonalities that unite us. Through his art, Kantu seeks to convey the idea that, despite our differences, we all share similar experiences and emotions.

One of the key elements in Kantu’s work is his use of mixed media. By incorporating various materials and techniques, he creates rich, textured pieces that invite viewers to engage with the work on a deeper level. This approach allows Kantu to explore complex themes and convey powerful messages through his art.

“Under the Umbrella” is a prime example of Kantu’s ability to blend different mediums to create a cohesive narrative. The use of acrylics, chalk, and tape adds layers of texture and depth to the piece, making it visually striking and thought-provoking. The imagery in “Under the Umbrella” suggests themes of protection and vulnerability, reflecting the complexities of the human experience.

In 2020, Kantu expanded his artistic repertoire by releasing his first literary publication, EMERGING-New Contemporary Narratives in the 21st Century. This book explores contemporary narratives through the lens of Kantu’s artistic perspective, offering readers insights into the themes and concepts that drive his work.

Kantu’s literary work complements his visual art, providing a deeper understanding of the ideas and emotions that inform his creations. Through his writing, Kantu continues to explore the human condition, examining the commonalities and differences that define our experiences.

Kantu’s artistic journey is deeply intertwined with the vibrant cultural landscape of Houston, TX. Living and working in this dynamic city has provided him with a rich source of inspiration and opportunities for collaboration. The diverse cultural environment of Houston is reflected in Kantu’s work, which often explores themes of cultural identity and the shared human experience.

In conclusion, Jesse A. Kantu is an artist whose work delves into the common denominators and brokenness of the human plight found in all cultures. Through his visual art and literary contributions, Kantu continues to explore the complexities of the human condition, offering viewers and readers a profound insight into the shared experiences that bind us together. His work with Pyramid Art Services further underscores his commitment to fostering creativity and community within the art world.
